内容記述 The origin of the goldfish is the red crucian carp (Hibuna) due to a mutation inhabiting the Yangtze River basin in China. In other words, goldfish are artificially bred from Hibuna, a mutant species of crucian carp. With the spread of Buddhism,Release Ponds were built in the temples, and the Hibuna was released and raised in this pond in isolation from the natural environment, which is said to be the origin of the establishment of goldfish.
Hibuna, which was placed in a pond or container such as jars, bowls, and grew in a state different from its natural environment, became conspicuous for its mutations, and as humans skillfully preserved the peculiar mutations of the fish, the morphology of the fish had changed, such as the tail fin opening to the side, and the colors had become diverse. These rare goldfish were apparently a tribute to the emperor and were recognized only in the center of power. In the Song Dynasty, the emperor himself
raised goldfish, which spread to his subordinates, and goldfish breeding boomed among the powerful of the time.
Therefore, the mention of goldfish in official sources (e.g. Encyclopedia of Materia Medica, breeding books) was much later than the actual state of goldfish. In other words, it is thought that the fish that can be seen in the paintings of the emperor's painters rather than in books released to the general public were the most advanced goldfish of the time. For this reason, I believe that emperor's painter Liu Cai's "Fish Swimming amid Falling Flowers" is of high value as a picture of the "domestic-fished" Hibuna, that is, the earliest fish in the history of goldfish.
